Blagoy Boychev was born in the city of Shumen in 1986. He completed his secondary education in 2005 at the National High School for Humanities and Arts in Varna. Afterward, he pursued acting at NATFA in the class of Prof. Plamen Markov, graduating in 2009. In the same year, he joined the Modern Theatre troupe under the artistic direction of Ivaylo Hristov.
In 2011, he became a co-founder of the association "Replica." He participated in numerous productions on both state and independent stages as an actor. In 2014, together with the Replica Theatre troupe, he received the Stoyan Kambarev Artistic Flight Award. In 2015, he earned a master's degree in the History of Philosophy from Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" and has scientific publications in the journal "Christianity and Culture."
In 2016, he completed a specialization in "Directing for Dramatic Theatre" under the guidance of Prof. Plamen Markov. In 2020, he received an award for directing the play "Kalunya-Kalya" at the "Stage, Palette, Word" festival in Plovdiv. In 2023, he enrolled as a doctoral student at NATFA, faculty of Stage Arts.
Currently, Blagoy Boychev serves as the manager of the Replica Theatre and is the chief organizer of the NEDRAma International festival-laboratory. He has extensive experience in the field of documentary theatre and, in 2021, led the workshop on documentary theatre at the NEDRAma International festival-laboratory.
