“The Earth Is Flat” is a statement that, in the 21st century, sounds utterly absurd in light of all our knowledge and education — yet we still hear it. Of course, we dismiss it with a smile, but that is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to conspiracy thinking. “The Earth Is Flat” is a performance that serves as a social satire aimed at this type of mindset.

The show will include many sketches by Israeli author Hanoch Levin. Written in the last century, they feature not only characters who believe the Earth is flat, but also characters who want: an endless hot dog sausage; to be the commander-in-chief of the Chinese army; a basket-hat that will solve all their problems; to buy a Hungarian anchovy; for no one to ever ask them to “pass” the salt — and so on. These are all people we could easily encounter in our own 21st century.

We simply want to see these characters before us and hear their thoughts on how easy the solutions to life’s problems can be. And perhaps, if we laugh, it will be for everyone’s benefit!
